Monday night. April. Not too sleepy for some reason…
I’ll tell you something for free: we’ve got great music in the UK…
So far I have resisted the iPod phenomenon. I don’t see the need to give Steve Jobs or Apple any more money…
That’s not sour grapes. All the best to them. They’ve done a great job of revolutionising the modern consumption of music.
I just think iPods are overpriced. You can get pretty much any kind of non-branded player you want at half the price (that will do much more as well)…
Anyway, back to my point: I decided to invest in a decent phone, and got a Nokia N73 (photo above) on the 3 Network. Takes a memory card. I have 1GB’s worth of music on the card.
- Good idea: most music tracks are 99p on Three. I’ve tracked down a lot of the great stuff I used to listen to back in the 80s. Memories… It takes less than a minute to download.
- Bad idea: it has ended up costing me a fortune. Ouch. Still the music’s good…
Again I digress. Back to what I was going to say: cycling home today, sample of what I was listening to on the card:
Prodigal Son – Picture This acoustic (as at now, unreleased): biiiig tune.
29th Chapter ft Sammy G – For The One (from the Underdogz album). Heavy.
Triple O – Pre-Written Freestyle – (unreleased promo). Jazz piano loop on sparse beats. Very nice.
Siani – Used And Not Owned – (unreleased promo). Massive tune produced by Kenz. Hopefully will be on their next album. Huge tune.
My journey to and from work sees me with a big grin all over my face…
You know, I’ve always thought I could create a radio show around the ‘songs from my phone’ format. Stick the phone player on random for 45 minutes and just play some great UK music.
…I might actually follow through on that idea for UKG Spin…
Now I’m tired. Going to bed…
