GL Live: Edition 8 Back with a New York twist

GL Live is back!

Gospel Link, the Birmingham-based publishing, promotions and media outfit known for strong events with equal US/UK billing,  continue the tradition with instalment 8, rekindling the original ethos of GL Live in exposing unknown and up-and-coming talent on an international stage.

This time the stage is given over Gauge and Slave from the States, paired with one of the strongest outfits to emerge from the UK in 2011: Writeway Music (Tunday, Rhema, Presha J and Leke), plus Birmingham’s DJ 4Real.

It will be interesting to see the impact the two New York rappers will have this time around (as compared, for example,  to Ritchie Righteous from GL Live 7).   We’ll see…

Local acts are also apparently performing at each venue as the tour takes in – for the first time ever – Newport, in addition to regular haunts Birmingham, London and Manchester.

The tour is from 19th-23rd October.  More details, links and how to book tickets below along with the official trailer.

Not long to go now…  Have you got your ticket?

Hip Hop artists release track to highlight persecution

Open Doors, a charity serving persecuted Christians worldwide joined forces with Preacher Boy Missions to produce a music single.

The track features award winning and highly talented Christian Hip Hop artists who have come together to raise awareness of Christians who suffer for their faith.

Coming for Me’, due for release on Tuesday 16th November features Jahaziel, Guvna B, New Direction Crew, E Tizz, McGladius from 29th Chapter, Armor MC and S.O.

The song was produced by awardwinning Steven ‘G.P.’ Abramsamadu, music video produced by Preacher Boy Filmworks, directed by Andy Mundy-Castle.

The song will be released in time to lend support to Open Doors’ Right to Believe petition that will be presented to the United Nations.

Jahaziel, who went on a trip to aid the persecuted in Pakistan, said:

“Meeting with Christians who’ve lost homes, family, and their freedoms for following Jesus is the starkest reminder I have ever experienced of what the Gospel of Jesus means.

Their horrific plight inspired me to want to be on this track with other artists to give these people a voice.”

Open Doors campaigns for those facing great persecution.  They hope the release of the single will raise more awareness, support, and concern for Christians suffering for their faith.

Open Doors spokesman Jonny Goodchild:

“Hip Hop is one of the most influential art forms in the world so what better platform? The Bible clearly states that when one part of the body suffers, we all suffer. We want to be a voice for the voiceless.”

Download: Eddie Kadi on the Gospel Breakfast Show on Premier Gospel

I met Eddie Kadi for the very first time on this audio you’ll hear. I can’t believe how quickly we hit it off.

He came in to the show I co-host with Nage, to talk about his one-man show at London’s 20,000-seater 02 Arena in London.   She was away, so it was just Eddie and I.  I hadn’t laughed that much live on air for quite a while… 🙂

News: M-Brio Music Sponsor UMA Gospel Category

MBrio music Logo - click to go to websiteExcellent new UK gospel website, announced its sponsorship of the Best Gospel Act category for 2009’s Urban Music Awards.

This is not only good news for the UMAs credibility, it’s even better news for M-Brio who – while being very new on the reporting scene – bring a very welcome reporting dimension to the UK and international scene. is quickly establishing itself as a major player (and rightly so, in my view), with the latest breaking news, features and interviews from the biggest and best in the Christian music world.

Founded by brothers Adam and Matthew Brooks, their vision is simple: to create a Christian music website, that operates in a more excellent way, promoting Christian artists and music, whilst uncovering and helping to introduce, new music to the world:

“We are truly excited to be able to partner with the Urban Music Awards. Not only do we appreciate what they are doing for U.K. music in general, but we also applaud their acknowledgement of a booming U.K Gospel scene.  By partnering with the UMA’s we believe we can show the world that gospel music transcends genres and styles and is literally bursting with talent”.
